You Are As You Think
“You’re not the product of a broken home, a devastated economy, a world in the upheaval of war, a minority group, a family of drunkards or a poverty-ridden neighborhood. You are the product of your own thinking processes and whatever you’re thinking about today is the cornerstone of your tomorrow.”
- Thomas Sikking
I love this quote and I look at it often. As Earl Nightingale said in his famous work ‘The Strangest Secret’ You become what you think about. Put another way; what ever you focus your attention on becomes bigger and more full of energy than that which you don’t think about.
Have you ever seen a mob? How did it start? Where did it come from? I am sure you have seen it happen to yourself. You dwell on a negative thing until it becomes so grand and out of proportion you say or do something that you regret and later after you have calmed down you can’t think how you could have ever reacted that way. You see, if you dwell on a thing long enough it will take over from you – get a life of its own.
If you are feeling down or constantly dwell on whats wrong with your life you will never escape! Your mind litteraly controls/creates your environment.
I know a man who everyday when asked “how are you today?’ would answer “I feel teriffic!” and he said it with passion and such conviction that I always would smile and feel better about my day. That man was an inspiration to me. He had worked his whole life, put his kids through school, and was providing for his wife by driving a delivery truck everyday for 10hrs a day. He told me to enjoy every day, even the work, and be glad for every thing I had including the trials and hardships I had to endure. He taught me that ‘your going to do it anyway so do it in a happy way’ and you will get more from having had the experience. Yes, everyday he said a heart felt “I feel Terrific!” and he did feel terrific he was creating his own reality. What I did not know then was that he was dying of cancer that was inoperable and growing fast. He knew it but still was there everyday with a smile, a wink, a motivating personality, and an encouraging voice. Everyday he said “I Feel Terrific” and he meant it no matter how sick he was that day.
You see, what you think about creates your life! What you focus on is your reality. Is your choice moving you forward toward your goals and aspirations or pulling you down and away? Keep your attitude up and alive! Live and be reckoned with! Choose to inspire by your words, your deeds, your thoughts!
Go Think good thoughts and Enjoy your life – it may be the only one you get!

I agree with this way of thinking, being. I’ve got a lot of practice to make what I truely want to happen.
Isn’t it amazing how your expectations truly color your results. Expect a bad day or a lousy experience and Viola! you have it. You tend to look for the reinforcement of your expectation. Expect to have a great day or enjoy the outing and your see all the reasons you want to enjoy an experience. My sister is the greatest example of this thinking; in Paris she had planned with 3 others to take the train to visit another country but there was a strike going on when they wanted to go. The others were disappointed and started to talk about how the trip was ruined when my sister said NO! we set out to do this and it is a wonderful trip and we will do it! They ended up with a cabbie who took them everywhere they wanted to go and had the most amazing trip to tell about. You are what you think!
